My husband and I bought a new house two years ago so our family could enjoy more space as our two boys got older and bigger. Upgrading to a more expensive property meant all our money was tied up in the mortgage with nothing spare for the interior update the 1960s house needed.

My home is an expression of my style and I desperately wanted to change the old and ineffective carpet. Flooring is the foundation of interior design and sets the tone for how the entire house looks as well as making it more efficient, so it was my one and only priority – the rest could wait!

When I saw Carpet Court advertise 21 months no interest and no payments via Q Card I investigated immediately. Following the credit approval process and a consultation I got beautiful hardwood flooring installed throughout the living areas and plush, warm carpet in the bedrooms. Along with new interior paintcustomized baby gifts, the house was totally transformed, which hugely increased how much we have enjoyed the spaces over the last two years.

The key was coming up with my own achievable repayment plan to ensure I could make the most of the interest-free period. With plenty of breathing space to manage repayments, the interest free period is now up and I’m happy to say I’ve paid off every cent and the flooring still looks as good as new!

The biggest concern with baby walkers is falling, says Dr. Hoffman. “The most severe injuries tend to result from falls down stairs and off of desks, but there is still a significant risk even on flat surfaces, just with tip-overs,” he says. Both Dr. Smith and the AAP, as an organization, are calling for a nationwide ban on the sale and manufacture of infant walkers. “The take-home message is if you’ve got one, get rid of it. Take the wheels off and dispose of it,” Dr. Smith says, and Dr. Hoffman wholeheartedly agrees. But taking away your kid’s infant walker doesn’t mean you have to take away your kid’s ability to bounce up and down. “Kids like that kind of motion, so something like a stationary activity center, which looks like a walker but doesn’t have wheels, is a great alternative,” says Dr. Smith. In a paper from 2001, the AAP also recommended stationary activity centers as a safer alternative to infant walkers, though it stopped short of endorsing specific products.

To keep things fresh and current, I think it is important to change out family photo displays often. ?I designed the gallery wall in our family room to have a good mix of frames in landscape and portrait orientation to allow lots of options for periodically changing out pictures. ?There is space for six 8x10s. ?So when we select new family photos, I always aim to get three in each orientation.
